Nicole Stout Is The Olympic Hopeful You Need To Know
If you haven’t heard of Nicole Stout yet, don’t worry, you will. She’s an SR Carnosyn® athlete, award-winning Team USA Judo athlete at Harvard, and that’s just the beginning. TRAIN for HER recently caught up with the 2020 Olympic hopeful about how she keeps building success.
How do you stay in such good shape?
My workout routine is one of the most vital components to my success as a Judo athlete and 2020 Olympic hopeful. Some of the most important things you can do to be successful in your training are variety, choosing a workout you love and taking the proper supplementation.
1. Cross-train
To be a competitor in Judo, I need to have a well-rounded workout routine. I attend Judo practice nine times a week, and for strength training, I enjoy Olympic weightlifting. Working different muscles is very important for successful training.
2. Choose something you love
I really dislike cardio – I like to joke that I am allergic to running because I turn red, pant, and get really sweaty! In order to motivate myself, I joined a CrossFit gym. CrossFit makes the cardio a little more bearable because I have to do the exercises with a group, which is super motivating!
3. Supplement properly
I personally ensure that I am taking the correct supplements, including SR CarnoSyn® beta-alanine, a supplement that helps me perform at my best.
How do you stay focused?
My network of supporters are the most important people in my life. Just like everyone else, I find it difficult to stay focused and motivated sometimes, but having supportive family, friends, teammates, and a good cup of coffee are the recipe for my success. I suggest having someone trusted to talk to, like a coach or parent, for the days you don’t feel like trying anymore.
What is the key to your success?
Confidence is a vital part of my success. I am a very stubborn person, but I can turn it into unrelenting determination. I am most motivated when I am feeling positive. The quickest way to give myself a confidence boost is to listen to some confidence inducing music like Brave, Honest, Beautiful by Fifth Harmony or Confident by Demi Lovato. I suggest having a ‘go to’ routine to build confidence.
What fuels you?
Nutrition is just as important as working out when it comes to being healthy. I am a very healthy eater, but I tend to misjudge portion sizes. One of the best things I’ve done for myself is invest in meal prep services. These save me a lot of time. I use Top Chef Meals. It’s the most customizable option I’ve found.
